Cache Creek BC (Trip Day 73)

This morning we got an early start out of Barkerville at 9:00 am, even though there was no official call out from the Tailgater. It felt strange to drive out of the park and not have my tires thumbed and lights checked. Yes we really are on our own again. We both commented to each other, how secure we had become in the caravan. The trip back to Hwy 97 was a bit eerie. At first we thought that the haze in the air was early morning mist, with maybe a bit of smoke mixed in. (It had rained all night). However as we got out of the forest and back onto Hwy 97 it became clear that this was mostly smoke. It came and went in waves, but basically was with us all day.

During our trip today the tense level was fairly high so I suggested toGarba that we stop and do a bit of skiing. Who knows, a higher perspective may clarify the situation.

Sorry , the event got scrubbed due to our small shoe size. Gaba was tempted. Currently we are in Cache Creek BC. This area also is quite different. It appears almost dessert like. Take note of the grass.

Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow. I have replied to Jake's email, and we will attempt to meet with him either Sunday afternoon or Monday. Don't worry Garba won't pass him by. Besides dealing with the fires, I hear on the news this evening that we also have an avalanche that occurred in our path to Vancouver. Donna we are basically retracing our route back through Whistler on the Sky to Sea Highway.
